Dave Austgen



Prior to joining Nanoplazz Technologies in 2019, Dave worked for 10 years at clean tech/bio-industrial startups – Earth Energy Renewables (COO), Proterro (CBDO) and Luca Technologies (CDO). From 1989 to 2010, Dave worked for Royal Dutch Shell in a variety of technical and commercial roles including Senior Business and JV Manager, Advanced Biofuels, Global Technology Manager, Shell Hydrogen and Global Manager, Shell Chemicals GameChanger. Dave served as an Adjunct Professor at the Jones Graduate School of Management, Rice University, (1997-2004). He has served on numerous boards and advisory committees. He received an MBA and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering both from The University of Texas at Austin.

Othon Monteiro

VP Product Development and Innovation


Othon has over 30 years of industrial and academic R&D experience in advanced materials, nanotechnology and plasma processing. He led the R&D and Engineering teams in multiple startups. His work as a Staff Scientist at the Lawrence Berkeley National Lab contributed to many industry partners and earned him U.S. Senate recognition in the fields of thin-films, diamond materials and plasma processes as well as an R&D 100 Award. Othon has worked in the Oil and Gas industry since 2005. He joined Baker Hughes in 2010 to bring nanotechnology to their Upstream businesses. Othon holds degrees from Brazil’s Military Institute of Engineering (B.Sc.), the University of California-Berkeley (Ph.D.) and an MBA from The University of Texas at Austin. He has authored over 80 technical and scientific publications and over 50 presentations. He has been granted 22 patents. He is a member of the OTC Organizing Committee (AIChE Section) since 2015

Dave Litzen

VP Process Engineering


Over his nearly 40-year span of process engineering experience, Dave has worked for Shell Chemical Company in various technical management, plant and corporate engineering roles. Following his 16 years with Shell, Dave co-founded and was Chief Technical Officer of KL Energy, a publicly traded cellulosic ethanol company focused on converting forest waste to liquid and solid fuels. Since his 10-year role with KL Energy, Dave has been independently consulting in support of a wide variety of renewable/conventional energy and specialty chemical projects with a expertise in process simulation and economic evaluation. Dave continues to support his alma mater, the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology (Rapid City, SD), as an occasional instructor, guest lecturer, and professional advisory board member of the Chemical and Biological Engineering Department.

Dave Dudek

(VP Product Development)


Dave Dudek earned a PhD from MIT in the field of chemical engineering. He has 27 years of experience at Royal Dutch Shell with various technical, strategy, and commercial assignments. He started at Shell in R&D providing technoeconomic support for novel downstream and chemical processes. Dave then had various commercial and strategy roles in Shell Chemicals higher olefins business. From there he went on to become the gamechanger manager for a start up internet business for Shell, an organizational effectiveness consultant supporting all of Shell, a business process redesign consultant, a business development manager for Shell’s catalyst business, and finally the North American Fuels technology manager.

Christopher Beasley

VP Business Development, Nanomaterials


Chris has over 30 years of progressive experience the chemicals industry. His career has progressed from engineering at Dow Chemical through management consulting, corporate strategy, acquisitions and integration, and global business leadership roles at Mallinckrodt, Occidental Chemical, EP Minerals (now part of US Silica), GFS Chemicals, Synthomer plc, and Elevance Renewable Sciences. He has expertise in a broad spectrum of specialty applications, including polymers, coatings, adhesives, plastics, composites, rubber, pharmaceuticals, personal care, agriculture, and energy. Chris also has significant hands-on experience in business acquisitions and integration. Chris holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis, and an MBA from the University of Chicago.

Steven Arakawa

VP Business Development


Prior to joining Nanoplazz Technologies in 2020. Steve worked for over 32 years at Honeywell UOP in the Refining, Petrochemical, and Gas Processing Industries. During this time Steve held various global leadership roles in Business, Technology and Business Development Management, including General Manager of Americas and China, Sales Director, Commercialization Director, and Senior Business Leader – Olefins and Detergents. Steve holds a MBA from the University of Chicago and BS in Chemical Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology
